Description
Peterson is famous for its elaborate silver applications, which are all made by hand and fitted to each pipe individually by silversmiths Jason Hinch und Simon Ellard.
The precious metals gold, silver and platinum have to undergo a purity check in the Irish Assay Office, located in Dublin Castle. Only then they will be cleared for sale.
All Peterson pipes have three embossings in the silverworks:
- The symbol of Hibernia (queen on a throne), identifying Ireland as the country of origin
- The purity of the sterling silver is certified by the crowned harp
- An individual letter, indicating the year of the clearance of the silver
This letter is an excellent way to identify the year of production of your Peterson pipe.
