Unless you happen to live in Freiburg – the charming and sun-kissed city in the Breisgau region – months of grey skies can really start to weigh on your mood. But sometimes, it’s simply a lack of vitamin D that makes us seem so serious compared to our southern neighbors.

Alberto Montini doesn’t know such problems – his company is based in Pesaro, right on the Adriatic coast. With so many hours of sunshine, it’s no surprise that he has an equally sunny disposition. So sunny, in fact, that he placed a star – yes, a real one! – right into his company logo. Just hearing his name is enough to lift our spirits and bring on that little hint of holiday feeling.

We’ve named this series Grappa – because, like the iconic drink distilled from grape pomace in copper kettles, it is crafted with Italian passion and tradition. This Grappa may not be on the house, but it’s still well worth considering. After all, with it by your side, you’ll always carry a piece of Italy with you – and the clouds might just seem to pass a little faster.
