The origin of the carnival figure Pulcinella lies in the south of Italy. In his performances he passed the latest gossip around.
He is very intelligent and cunning, but also clumsy. He talks quite vulgar with a very distinct dialect. He was liked by most people, but the high society did not want to be seen on one of his shows.
The costume is made of a long white robe, a black half mask with a long bird-like nose and a pointed hat.
Savinelli used these colours in the mouthpiece of the Pulcinella pipes, which was artfully crafted with countless layers.
