Imagine Covid 19 comes along and you are a pipe producer. The whole country is in lockdown for month, all employees have to stay at home, and after a time you are allowed to work again. The whole world is calling for pipes - in your home office there are no smoking restrictions.
Our stock was diminishing quite fast, and fresh supplies were not in sight. Italian briar traders were not allowed to harvest the precious roots for month. Now the prices for briar exploded in the two digit percent range. Fresh briar cannot be used, the wood has to mature and dry slowly. A pipe also needs a mouthpiece and some applications. Here supplies were also scarce.
Our partner Peterson also struggled to get production up and running again. But they were not alone.. Rattray’s, Chacom, Chris Morgan, Molina all have been in the same boat. The only exception is Savinelli. They keep a briar stock for five years of production.
Our shelfs have been empty as never before, but now we are back! Slowly, but steady deliveries reach our warehouse.
The series Tyrone is named after an old shire in Northern Ireland. It is Peterson’s smooth pipe with the best price. The beautiful dark brown makes you thirsty for a pint of Guiness. Available in 12 classic Peterson shapes.
