The idea for this classic pipe series was born in 1987 in the pub ‘The Horse & Hound’. The legendary pipe importer Töff Seiffert was visiting his friend Jim Nicholson in Dublin to select new releases for the German market. After a long and busy day, a pint in the pub was more than welcome. It is said that both gentlemen not only had a strong tolerance for alcohol, but that their creativity flourished even more after a few pints. When their eyes fell upon a statue bearing the likeness of Sherlock Holmes with a pipe, they immediately knew what had to be done.
The first pipe to emerge from Peterson’s workshop was ‘The Original’. Six more shapes followed. Later, the ‘Return’ series was added, also featuring seven shapes – two of which were designed by Töff’s son, Jan Harry, who completed an internship at Peterson as part of his training as a pipe maker.
This edition features a warm Brown finish that brings out the natural grain patterns of the briar wood in a refined and understated way.
