This series is presented in the traditional chestnut tone and features an elegant, hand-crafted sterling silver band adorned with the Irish harp. The design is completed by a color-matched acrylic stem in classic Cumberland style.
The harp holds a special place in Irish cultural history. Harp players once enjoyed great prestige—both among the common people and at royal courts. Stories and poetry were accompanied by their enchanting melodies, and bards often sat at the same table as kings. They frequently served as important advisers to rulers on social and political matters.
When the English later conquered the island, the Irish harp—as an expression of Irish spirit and identity—became a thorn in their side. In the 17th century, Lord Protector Oliver Cromwell ordered not only the destruction of monasteries and harbours, but also of all Irish harps.
Thus, the harp is not only a symbol of resistance, but also the embodiment of the long-awaited desire for independence. It stands as a reminder of Ireland’s deep cultural roots and traditions.
